AP LIVE were asked to provide production support to a US based client who were looking to host an intimate client gathering in Central London. Brief was to find a funky room with a view of the Thames…. Enter the Cucumber Bar in Sea Containers Building!
AP LIVE were tasked with installing a stage unit for speakers, a branded wall for photos, sound, lighting, graphics and a full crew of technicians to run the show.
We were also tasked with providing a videographer and photographer to capture the whole event.
The scope of work expanded beyond the initial production support too, with requests for floral displays, delegate management, registration staff, badge printing and sourcing bespoke linens.
The Cucumber is run by Sea Containers Events, who looked after us well, but the biggest challenge from a production perspective was to get all the kit into the space and set up in time with a 4pm access time and a 5.30pm start for guests.
With a goods lift a good 10mins round trip, we negotiated a meeting room to store kit in near the event space and managed to prep some parts in advance in our tiny production room.
The Cucumber Bar is on the 13th floor of Sea Containers and has unrivalled views of the London skyline. With 2 big balconies, guests really enjoyed networking and taking in the views.
Covid safety planning was key. All guests were asked to test prior to entering, temperature checks on the door and then we provided a traffic light system of lanyards with red requesting no contact, yellow being talking but no touching and green being all fine with hugs and high fives!! Some guests joked saying they would be red or yellow despite Covid! The system worked well and guests felt comfortable that they had elected their level of contact whilst networking.
Happy client, happy and covid safe guests and the perfect backdrop for a London centric networking event. Live events are back!
